- Even if you had the time, you wouldn’t know what to do to make it happen
All this is even more true nowadays with Internet marketing, blogging and social networking competing for time in your already overfull schedule!

When was the last time you took a real vacation (Gasp!), or time off to spend with your friends or family—without feeling guilty, working while you’re there, or having your business come to a screeching halt?
If it’s been longer than you can remember (or maybe even never), I feel your pain. Because I’ve been there myself.
It’s all too easy to give up your entire life for your business! But it isn’t healthy.
You’ve probably heard the old saying “Is your business running you or are you running your business?”
Well, the reality is, most entrepreneurs end up with their business running them instead of the other way around. I certainly did. And it was SO not fun.
When I started my old marketing copywriting business years ago, I was broke. So I took on any and all work and clients that came around.
Even though I had plenty of experience and proven results from my sales letters, I charged at the lower end of the scale because I didn’t want price to be an obstacle to hiring me. And I took last minute projects all the time because I needed the cash.
Within 6 months I had more than enough work to keep me busy full time. After a year and half I was swamped and working 12-16 hour days, 6-7 days a week.
Even though I had raised my rates a good bit, at the end of two years I was shocked at how little I’d actually made…
When I divided my net income by the hours I’d worked it was clear I could’ve made more money with way less stress and effort waiting tables 4 nights a week! ARRRRRGHHH!!!
I was horrified. I was also exhausted, had thrown my back out, and my friends were asking my hubby if I was okay because they hadn’t seen me in so long. And let me add that he was less than thrilled with my schedule and stress level.
It was nobody’s idea of the good life. Yet the good life is exactly what I wanted when I started my business.
I knew I had to get control of both my hours and my income or I wasn’t going to be in business for long.
So I started searching for answers…And thankfully, finding them!
Before long my revenues were growing by 50% each year while my work hours decreased by about 30%! It was like the heavens had opened and the angels were singing while sunlight beamed down upon me. Hallelujah!!
Today my business is completely different from how it started. While I’m still booked solid I work a sane schedule, pay myself a salary, and regularly take time to exercise, play in the great outdoors, and hang with family and friends. And I’m way less stressed so I enjoy both my life and my business a whole lot more.
Now I’m on a mission to help passionate entrepreneurs everywhere learn to do the same. Because, frankly, I believe anyone who wants to have a business and a life should be able to!
The reality is, being a successful entrepreneur with a thriving business and a happy personal life is all about working smarter…not harder.
Until you figure out how to do that, you’re going to find yourself overworked, underpaid, overwhelmed and eventually burnt-out. And you’re going to end up missing out on a whole lotta what life is really all about (and that has nothing to do with being chained to a desk answering emails)!
Let’s face it; most entrepreneurs start a business with dreams of making a difference while making a good living. Of having more flexibility and control over your life and schedule so you can spend more time with family and friends, or doing things you enjoy. Of “someday” getting your business to the point where you can start taking time off to do the things you love.
The problem is…Most entrepreneurs don’t know much about building a sustainable, scalable, profitable business when they start.
So you end up working and working and working some more. But you don’t make much money. Someday never comes and the dreams of the good life you started with simply never becomes your reality.
Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be that way.
